This is the first fast telephoto prime lens in the LEICA DG range. Despite its compact size and light weight, it is extremely sharp and has a 400mm focal length, ideal for sports and wildlife photography. With the 1.4× Tele Converter DMW-TC14*1, you can extend the focal length of the lens up to 560mm (35mm camera equivalent).
The fast aperture of F2.8 allows you to shoot fast-moving subjects at fast shutter speeds, while the POWER OIS optical image stabilization system effectively suppresses hand-shake blur, which is useful when shooting without a tripod or in low light conditions. With compatible Panasonic LUMIX mirrorless cameras, even more powerful Dual IS *2 and Dual IS 2*3 image stabilization technologies are available.
The lens meets the highest LEICA standards, its optical design includes 15 elements combined in 13 groups, including two lenses with extra low dispersion. With UED lenses and state-of-the-art optical technology, Panasonic achieves superb sharpness and contrast while minimizing distortion and chromatic aberration.
A system of three linear motors and a high sensor polling rate (240 fps) made it possible to achieve the highest speed and accuracy of the contrast autofocus system, which is especially important when shooting 4K video. In addition, stepper iris motors allow you to smoothly adjust the exposure while panning.
The lens is dust and moisture resistant*4 and can operate down to -10℃, making it ideal for professional use even in challenging environments. And the black metal of the body goes well with the LUMIX G cameras.
The LEICA DG ELMARIT 200mm / F2.8 / POWER OIS can also be used with the 2.0× Teleconverter DMW-TC20 (sold separately) to increase the focal length to 800mm (35mm camera equivalent).
