Coreless direct drive delivers ultra-stable rotation
Direct-drive turntables use a slowly turning motor to drive the platter, offering advantages such as high rotational precision and strong torque for long-term reliability. Traditional direct drives, however, can suffer from torque ripple—uneven rotation caused by the stator core. The SL-1210MK7 eliminates that source by using a coreless stator. Removing the iron core stops torque ripple at its origin. At the same time, the rotor magnets have been maximized and their distance to the coreless stator optimized, enabling high torque performance on par with the SL-1210MK5. The result is exceptionally smooth rotation and stable playback that faithfully reproduces audio from older records.

Adjustable torque and braking
A new digital motor-control system—derived from Blu‑ray player technology—lets you select torque and brake response in four distinct steps, expanding customization for different techniques and preferences.
Digital pitch control
Pitch can be precisely adjusted digitally by ±8% or ±16%. The slider directly controls motor speed without an extra D/A conversion stage, resulting in faster response and stable, accurate pitch adjustment.
Reverse playback
A first for the SL-1210 line, reverse playback unlocks new creative possibilities. The function supports 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm speeds.
Highly responsive tonearm
The S-shaped tonearm—proven in professional DJ use—maintains static balance while precision bearings increase sensitivity over the SL-1210MK6. This improved tracking capability follows record grooves more accurately and minimizes stylus skipping, even during aggressive techniques like scratching.

Bright, long-lasting white LED stylus illumination
Stylus illumination now uses a high-intensity white LED activated by a simple button press. The light covers a larger area at higher brightness so the needle tip remains clearly visible in dark environments.

Detachable connections for power and audio
Power and audio connectors are provided and designed for easy disconnection to simplify maintenance. Audio outputs are gold-plated to reduce signal degradation and help preserve sound quality.

Durable chassis and vibration-isolating suspension
The chassis—the primary element for vibration control—uses professional-grade construction to improve sonic performance. A high-strength ABS/fiberglass compound is bonded to a die-cast aluminum frame to form a rigid, two-layer structure that increases stiffness and damping. The suspension combines a spring and rubber elements tuned for optimal frequency response, enhancing sound clarity, reducing mic‑sensitivity effects and protecting against external vibrations in loud environments.
