The Technics SB-C600E-K two-way bookshelf loudspeaker belongs to the Premium C600 series and incorporates a wealth of engineering solutions derived from the SB-G90M2 floorstanding model. In many ways, it can be seen as a contemporary reinterpretation of the very first Technics product from 1965 – the compact EAB-1204 bookshelf speaker.
Advanced Phase Precision Driver
A defining element of the Technics SB-C600E-K is its coaxial Phase Precision Driver. This assembly unites a 152 mm mid/bass unit and a 25 mm dome tweeter concentrically in a single axis. Such a layout closely approximates an ideal point source, as both drivers are precisely aligned in phase, which minimizes phase discrepancies between sound waves of differing lengths and promotes coherent, time-accurate reproduction.

The tweeter is fitted with a sculpted “bullet” Linear Phase Plug that functions as a phase corrector and, according to Technics, enhances detail retrieval while expanding the stereo image. Both the tweeter dome and the mid/woofer diaphragm are crafted from aluminum and treated with a special anodized (alumite) coating. The smoothly contoured midwoofer cone also serves as a shallow waveguide for the tweeter, helping to suppress unwanted reflections. This configuration promotes the formation of a spherical wavefront with uniform propagation, and the coaxial topology provides precise, stable placement of sound sources within the listening space.
Midwoofer diffuser
The midwoofer diaphragm with its gently rounded, uniform edges is engineered to function as a shallow waveguide for the tweeter, contributing to a reduction in internal reflections. This helps to generate a spherical sound wave with well-aligned fronts, and, in combination with the coaxial layout, enables highly accurate spatial imaging and clearly defined localization of musical elements.
Phase inverter
The bass reflex port on the Technics SB-C600E-K is positioned on the front baffle and features a specially optimized internal profile. This geometry suppresses airflow turbulence and largely eliminates the high-frequency chuffing noise typical of conventional bass reflex designs. The front panel is finished in a refined matte coating, created by blending paint with a special powder to achieve a deep, elegant texture. The crossover network employs premium-grade parts such as polypropylene capacitors and OFC copper wiring. On the rear, the speaker is equipped with a pair of robust screw-type brass binding posts.
Balanced driver mounting architecture
The Balanced Driver Mounting Architecture (BDMA) introduces a distinctive approach to securing the coaxial driver: it is fixed to an internal baffle located behind the front panel rather than directly to the outer face. This configuration, according to Technics, significantly reduces the impact of cabinet resonance and driver-induced vibrations, while the internal baffle further reinforces the enclosure. During the design and refinement of BDMA, Technics employed CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools for simulation, structural analysis, and optimization of physical behavior.
