Coreless Direct-Drive Motor
Many traditional analog turntables suffer from degraded audio caused by rotation-induced vibration and torque ripple, which makes rotation uneven. The SL-1200G's coreless direct-drive motor removes the torque-ripple issue, while its dual-rotor arrangement reduces load on the bearings and suppresses vibration without compromising torque. The result is smooth, stable rotation and warm, detailed playback from vinyl sources.

Advanced Motor Control
Motor control algorithms borrowed from high-performance Blu-ray drives change operating modes according to the motor’s condition, delivering strong start-up torque and exceptional stability at full speed.
Three-layer Platter
The platter combines a brass top plate, a cast-aluminum core and a sound-damping rubber layer on the underside to eliminate unwanted resonance. This structure yields high rigidity and damping, resulting in excellent rotational stability and an inertia more than twice that of the SL-1200MK5 and greater than the SP-10MK2, the studio benchmark direct-drive turntable.

Careful Mass Balancing
Imbalanced mass distribution can create excess vibration and noise that degrade sound. Each unit is precision-balanced on specialized equipment during final assembly to ensure even weight distribution. After adjustment, a “BALANCED” label is applied to the unit to indicate completion.

Highly Sensitive Tonearm
The tonearm is built from lightweight magnesium alloy to combine low mass with excellent shock damping. The traditional Technics gimbal suspension—with horizontal and vertical pivots intersecting at a defined point—and precision bearings housed in a machined cage deliver very low starting friction and high tracking sensitivity.

Four-layer Chassis
Building on the SL-1200MK5’s three-layer construction, the SL-1200G adds a precisely machined 10 mm-thick pure aluminum top plate to create a four-layer chassis. This multi-layer design increases rigidity, reduces resonance and gives the player a refined, durable finish.

Premium Connectors
The audio and ground terminals are machined from brass and gold-plated to ensure high-quality signal transfer while remaining easy to connect and disconnect. An internal metal shield also helps minimize the influence of external electrical noise.

Grand Class turntable, 9" S-shaped tonearm, four-layer aluminum/compound/rubber chassis, three-layer 3.6 kg platter, direct drive with electronic speed selection (33; 45; 78 rpm), pitch control; dimensions 453 x 173 x 372 mm, weight 18 kg.
The Technics SL-1210GEG-K belongs to the Grand Class range. It features a coreless direct-drive motor that minimizes magnetic losses and audible interference, producing smoother rotation and lower noise. A dual-rotor configuration further reduces bearing stress, vibrations and torque irregularities. Motor operation is governed by a high-precision control system developed for Blu-ray drives, ensuring rapid start-up and stable rotation. Playback speeds of 33.3, 45 or 78 RPM can be selected using push-button controls.
The platter uses a three-layer construction: a brass plate mounted on a cast-aluminum body with a rubber damping layer on the underside. This combination produces a very stiff, well-damped platter that suppresses unwanted resonance and vibration. The platter’s mass is over twice that of the SL-1200MK5. Each platter is balanced during assembly using precision instrumentation, and a "Balanced" sticker is attached to indicate this process.
The cabinet is a four-layer assembly: a 10 mm precision-machined aluminum top plate, a cast-aluminum layer, a BMC (bulk molding compound) layer and a substantial rubber base layer to isolate and absorb vibrations.
The SL-1210GEG-K is fitted with a 9-inch S-shaped tonearm made from magnesium alloy. The headshell is removable and two extra counterweights are supplied. The arm uses a reliable gimbal suspension with precision bearings. For connection to a phono stage there is a grounding terminal and a pair of shielded RCA outputs with gold-plated brass contacts.
As is customary for this series, the SL-1210GEG-K includes a strobe for speed monitoring, a pitch fader for fine adjustment, and an illuminated aid to help place the needle accurately in low light.
