Advanced coreless direct drive for precise rotational stability
The heart of this turntable inherits technologies developed for the SL‑1200 and professional SL‑1000R models. Its coreless direct‑drive motor, as used in the SL‑1200GR, delivers exceptional rotational accuracy for faithful playback. To suppress irregular rotation (cogging) a damping layer of rubber covers the entire underside of the platter, allowing optimal control of platter inertia. A two‑layer chassis is formed by attaching a fiberglass‑reinforced ABS layer to the die‑cast aluminum plinth, while a damper combining spring and rubber elements provides effective vibration isolation. The unit features Technics’ universal, statically balanced S‑shaped tonearm and a precision gimbal bearing shared with SL‑1200 series models for smooth, sensitive startup behavior. For improved durability and signal purity the power lead is removable and the audio/line connectors are gold‑plated to minimize degradation.
Built-in phono equalizer and cartridge included
To make analog listening more convenient, the SL‑1500C ships with an onboard phono equalizer and a fitted cartridge, removing the need to buy external components to connect to most audio systems. The EQ enclosure is shielded to reduce interference from external sources and power supply noise. A line‑out switch lets you bypass the phono stage when connecting to a dedicated phono input or external preamp.
The design protects the pickup signal from unwanted interference: the power supply for the RCA (phono) outputs is isolated from the line‑out circuit, and the RCA signal path is kept as short as possible to preserve audio quality. Isolated connector blocks also help prevent wiring mistakes. An Ortofon 2M RED MM cartridge is included in the package, delivering a clear, musical presentation on the SL‑1500C.

Automatic lift for safe, effortless record changes
At the end of playback a built‑in mechanism gently lifts the tonearm to protect both stylus and record from wear. The components responsible for this function are mounted at the tonearm base so they do not influence the arm’s behavior. The simple, motorless mechanism operates without introducing electrical noise or vibration, minimizing any impact on sound quality. This solution was chosen in response to user requests while preserving the unit’s straightforward, easy‑to‑use feature set.

Minimalist design, exceptional user experience
The SL‑1500C combines a clean, understated design with the refined usability fans expect from Technics. Its elegant appearance complements your listening space while delivering a satisfying analog experience.
