Advanced coreless direct drive for precise, stable rotation
The drive assembly — the heart of the turntable — builds on engineering from the SL-1200 and the professional SL-1000R. Its coreless direct-drive motor, similar to the SL-1200GR, delivers exceptional rotational accuracy and faithful signal reproduction. To prevent uneven rotation (synchronous torque), the entire underside of the platter is coated with a shock-absorbing rubber layer, enabling optimal control of platter inertia. A composite of ABS and fiberglass is bonded to the die-cast aluminum chassis to form a two-layer structure, while a vibration damper combining a spring and rubber elements provides effective isolation. The unit uses a universally statically balanced S-shaped tonearm, and a precision bearing with the same gimbal and housing as SL-1200 models ensures smooth, responsive startup. For improved reliability and reduced signal loss, a detachable power cord and gold-plated audio/line terminals are included.
Turntable with built-in phono stage and cartridge
Integrated phono stage and supplied cartridge — the SL-1500C includes a built-in equalizer (phono stage) and cartridge so you can connect it to most systems without purchasing extra components. The phono stage features shielded construction to suppress external interference and power-supply noise, and a switchable line output is provided for setups that bypass the internal preamp.
The player’s layout protects the cartridge output from external interference: the dedicated power circuit for the RCA (phono) outputs is isolated from the line output power circuit, and the RCA signal path is kept deliberately short to preserve audio quality. The isolated connector blocks also reduce the chance of connection errors. An Ortofon 2M RED MM cartridge is included in the package, enhancing the SL-1500C’s vinyl playback performance.
Auto-lift function for easy record changing
At the end of a side, a mechanical auto-lift gently raises the tonearm to protect both stylus and vinyl from wear. The mechanism is mounted at the tonearm base so it does not affect tonearm behavior. Its simple, motorless design introduces no electrical noise or additional vibration, minimizing any impact on playback. This user-requested feature was implemented to preserve sound quality while keeping operation straightforward and reliable.
